Series 2 Pokémon First Partner Illustration Collection Arts Revealed in China
Earlier this year, Pokémon began rolling out special products to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. The next instalment of the First Partner Illustration Collections rolls out in June featuring Johto, Unova, and Galar first partners! We take our first look at the Chinese versions of the cards due next month in English.

What are these "First Partner Illustration" collections?
This product contains two Mega Evolution packs, with Series 2 expected to be bundled with Perfect Order and Chaos Rising—plus the all important Series pack featuring a random selection of three First Partner Pokémon from the same generation.
The first instalment
Series 1 of Pokémon's new First Partner Illustration Collection was an absolute slam dunk— featuring Kanto, Sinnoh, and Alola first partner Pokémon on Illustration Rare-style trading cards. The arts on these cards are fantastic, so it's no surprise that this product was sold out everywhere as collectors scramble to get their hands on it. I don't like promoting the value of cards very much, but there's no denying that the three Kanto starter cards— Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle— fetch a pretty penny on marketplaces like eBay and Cardmarket due to how highly sought after these cards are by collectors. These cards are very highly quality controlled making them very gradable too.

The second instalment
Series 2 looks absolutely stunning so far. We're looking at the Chinese version of these cards here, because for this collection, it appears to be a Chinese/International exclusives. This series contains Perfect Order and Chaos Rising packs, but just have a look at these arts...
Johto
Featuring elements from the Pokémon Gold and Silver Johto region; we're presented with a brief trip throughout the game. Chikorita shows off the Rainbow Feather and the Squirt bottle used on Sudowoodo, Cyndaquil with the PokéGear, Totodile and the silver feather. All cards have a scattering of locations, design inspirations and gym badges.
Unova
The Unova cards display the stunning shimmering beauty of the famous Pokémon Black & White locations, landmarks and chequered patterns. Like always, we see an array of gym badges and famous elements from the games. This one has to be one of my personal favourites!
Galar
Last but not least, set in the brave & competitive Galar countryside, we see features of the Sword & Shield games throughout these cards. Fragments of badges, pubs and historical artifacts are displayed. Wedgehurst and Motorstoke form the foundation behind Grookey, Hammerlocke and the Pokémon Center behind Scorbunny. You'll see the Slumbering Weald Arch and Hulbury Lighthouse presented proudly with Sobble; alongside the infamous, London-inspired, Flying Taxi.
